During the past three years AFI has won 18 prestigious industry awards (including Apprentice of the Year, Workshop Manager of the Year and RoSPA Gold three years running) and has reached the finals in 22 other categories.
If you combined the maximum working heights of all the machines in the AFI fleet it would reach 77 kilometres into the sky, equivalent to the total height of all 7 of the tallest mountains in the world. Or alternatively the same height 93 Burj Khalfia’s, the world’s tallest building.
The mileage covered by our vehicle fleet in 2017 is equivalent to driving around the world 166 times.
Every 4.8 minutes we train a customer on a construction safety and working at height course.
As well as hiring, we now sell over 2,000 machines per year which equates to a machine sold every 64 minutes.
We are a global business, selling across the world from the UK to the Far East and even as far as Antarctica.
In the UK, we have 50 apprentices, representing nearly 10% of our workforce. Some of our earlier apprentices still work in the Group in senior positions, including several Senior Engineers and members of the Senior Management Team.
AFI’s machines have been involved in a variety of high-profile projects, from Leicester City Football Club to Goodwood Festival of Speed to Hinkley Point to the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The furthest hire from our Dammam depot in Saudi Arabia is all the way to Turaif, a distance of 1,300km away.
In the UK, on average the hire period is 16 days whereas in our Middle East operations, this is significantly longer at around 85 days.
Our strategy is based around four key areas: profitability, customer service, developing our team, and safety and innovation.
AFI has a substantial presence in the Middle East where our Access Rental Gulf (ARG) business is making a significant contribution to group revenues and profits.
